My trip to Rotorua on my birthday.

My trip to Rotorua on my birthday.
On my birthday, my uncle and my mum took me and my little brother
to Rotorua for my birthday and his birthday so we packed our stuff in
the car and packed some snacks for later. When we left in the car I
felt so excited because it was my first time going to Rotorua.
At Rotorua there was lots of things to be interested in. Once we finally
reached our destination we went to our hotel first because it was dark
but before we got in to our hotel we first had to get the key of the
manager that takes care of the houses. When we got the key for our
hotel we went in and it was warm inside and there were 2 big beds in
the same room. Me and my brother slept on 1 huge bed and my uncle
and my mum slept on the other huge bed but before we went to bed
we went in the pool for a while after that we went for a shower then
we had dinner.

On the Next day we woke up got dressed, clean up and had breakfast.
After we did all that stuff we went to golf because it was right next
to our hotel on the side where there was a pathway leading to the golf
sticks, golf balls and the golf stages. Once i got my golf stick and the
golf balls i went to stage 1 to stage 13 because stage 13 is the last
stage to complete but when in was doing stage 13 it was very difficult
for me and my little brother. Once I finally finished stage 13 we went
to go have lunch and go to another place. The last place we went to was
the go-carts. At the go-carts there are 2 lanes. 1 lane is an easy stage
for you to practise and the 2 lane is when you have to go fast without
stopping. Once we got on the go-carts we went on the hard one because we already knew how to drive the go-carts. When we were driving our
fastest a man bumped into me and my brother and we nearly fell off
the carts and after we finally finished the stage so we went to our
hotel cause we were tired and it was getting dark. We had dinner had
a shower and went back to our normal home.

Tongan Language Week.

                                 Tongan Language Week
Last week on the 6th of September on Friday it was Tongan Language week.
We went to the hall because we were performing and other students to. we were
performing in the Summerville hall with the school, Parents and Others were
there to watch us in all of the performances and Fakapale with money. We were
the last ones to perform on stage because we have a longer item to do. We were
sitting patiently on chairs Enjoying the other Performances until it was our turn.

When It was finally our turn, we did our Ma’ulu’ulu. It was really cool and fun
because all of our parents brought a massive feed for the school in our school hall.

After our long performance we went to the hall to eat lots of different kinds of
tongan food. My favourite was keke and my friends favourite was the same to
cause keke is like a bun but different and better.

 Energy Saving

On Wednesday the 11th of September 2019 we (Rm 6, and some
rm 8 and 7) were discussing about two different types of light bulbs.
The first light bulb is just a normal light bulb. The Normal Bulb is
the Bulb that gets used by most people all around the world, but this
Bulb is bad because it processes 60 Watts per hour which is 30 cents
each hour. This can be a massive problem because all of your Energy
usage is added up to the billing Company and can cost an average
over up to $112 - 200 dollars. The Normal Bulb also runs out of
battery faster than a led Bulb which means you will have to keep
buying new Bulbs for your home.

Bike day

                                                 Bike Day
On Monday 16th of September we had a bike day celebration
with the whole middle syndicate which is Room 4, 5, 6 and Room
8. We went down to the bike containers at 11.30 after morning
tea. Once we went to the bike containers we had to ride the new
bikes on the bike track because we were donated 25 new bikes by
Mike Greerer real Estate for free. We were donated 25 bikes for
the shed because our bikes kept getting stolen.

When I got my helmet and got my bike I was told I could only
take 2 rounds around the track and when I finished doing 2
rounds I was also served free milo, free biscuits and there was
another stall where we could design our own badges. There was
also another activity was to ride a bike that can make music.

It was nice riding the brand new bikes because the bike was
smooth, I could change gears, I felt the fresh calm air coming
through me and I was shocked and excited but before we got on
the new bikes Mrs Jalili disgusted the rules.

Fillipe tohi

Fillipe tohi
On Tuesday the 3rd of september 2019 room 5, 6, 7 and 8 went
down to the hall for assembly because there was a famous
tongan artist that was coming to our school. The tongan famous
artist's name was Fillipe tohi he came to our school to show
room 5, 6, 7, and 8 his art that he made, where he goes, where
he lives and what he does. Fillipe tohi is 60 years old and he
was drawing and painting ever since he was a kid. Fillipe tohi
has been an artist since 1990.  His art is all around New
Zealand, in Tonga, in China and in Samoa. When he was a kid
he was inspired by his grandmother. He had to stay with his
grandmother because his mum died when he was a little kid.
He was inspired by his grandmother because his grandmother
started painting and drawing by using wood and steel.
The steel represents how strong his grandmother is. His art is
related to other cultures but especially pacifica. He also made
a beautiful model about a vaka meaning boat in tongan.
His biggest project is the statue took 3 years to make.
He showed us he made an ancient monument built a long time
ago. The ancient monument inspired him to make his own mini
monument, that was made out of rocks. Most of his famous
arts are made out of kafa that means lashes. His arts like
carpets are made out of different patterns and different
meanings.
